Vegan Boston Guide – Best Vegan Restaurants Boston

Visiting soon and need a vegan Boston guide? Maybe you already live there and are looking for the best vegan restaurants Boston has? Then you landed in the right place!

Let’s be honest, Boston isn’t ranking as of the most vegan friendly cities in the United States. It’s an unlikely pioneer in the world of gourmet vegan eats. However, don’t be deterred by an outdated traditionalist reputation you might think the city has.

Boston’s infamous East Coast cuisine is becoming so much more than overpriced oysters, clam chowder, and lobster rolls. From fun, and slightly fancy, salad spots to unique, fusion date destinations, to Tom Brady’s favorite ice cream joint, Boston has all of your vegan cravings covered.

Here is our Boston Vegan Guide and the Best Vegan Restaurants Boston has!

By CHLOE., the infamous women-run-and-founded NYC powerhouse recently made its way to Boston. This beautifully decorated bistro offers classic comfort food with a reasonable price tag and no heartburn attached.

By Chloe’s fan-favorite “guac” burger, meatball sub and air-fried sweet potato fries pair perfectly with their constantly rotating seasonal menu. Did someone say pumpkin pancakes?

Head to By Chloe for quick, clean, and extremely instagrammable afternoon bite.

FoMu

FoMu Vegan Ice Cream in Boston

PC: FoMu

  • Cuisine: Artisan Ice Cream
  • Price Range: $4 – $10
  • Locations: Allston, South End, Jamaica Plain
  • Check this spot out if: you’re taking your sports-loving, non-vegan family members out for dessert.

Made from scratch on-site with all-natural, exclusively plant-based ingredients, FoMu is capitalizing on America’s new-found love for small-business authenticity and the localization of the food industry– and they’re succeeding.

Not only are most of their flavors seasonal, but each batch is churned to minimize air pockets, resulting in a creamy, gelato-like consistency you can literally feel. This is absolutely the best vegan ice cream you can get in Boston!

If that’s not enough to sell the parents? FoMu is Tom Brady’s favorite.

  • Cuisine: Pastries, pastries, pastries
  • Price Range: $3 – $11
  • Location: Boston Public Market
  • Check this spot out if: you’re looking for an afternoon pick-me-up.

Jennifer Lee’s Gourmet Bakery was started by Jennifer Lee after she was diagnosed with severe allergies to both gluten and dairy, she made it her life’s work to give those with dietary restrictions a safe place to eat fantastic food.

Although Jennifer Lee’s specializes in baked goods, they have recently expanded to the more savory bites such as The Fancy Fig panini– a hot sandwich with house made cashew goat cheese, pear jam, fig balsamic glaze and arugula.

Find Jennifer Lee herself in Boston Public Market seven days a week, and grab a seasonal donut, fudge brownie, or red velvet cupcake in person or order online for later (or… maybe both?).

  • Cuisine: Creative Grain Bowls
  • Price Range: $10 – $15
  • Location: Allston, Central Square
  • Check this spot out if: you absolutely cannot cook tonight but want to eat something satiating and healthy.

Whole Heart Provisions may be the quintessential vegan lunch spot in Boston – filled with buddha bowls and raw wood benches – but it’s also one of the best secrets in the city for a hearty and affordable portion of plant based goodness. Choose from one of their signature combos or build your own bowl, chipotle style.

Instead of animal products, however, pick from abundant array of creative plant based toppings such as crispy chickpeas, carrot and radish kimchi, seared avocado and peanut crumble– to name a few. And the best part? Free delivery.

  • Cuisine: Salads and Smoothies
  • Price Range: $7 – $13
  • Neighborhood: Boston Public Market, Kendall Square, Newbury Street
  • Check this spot out if: you’re trying to beat a cold.

Mother Juice is a little on the steep side in terms of salad spots, but considering that all of their ingredients are organic, produced locally and hand-made on site, the price tag feels a little more justifiable.

Everything on Mother Juice’s menu is deeply nourishing– but without tasting like it. Their central location in Boston Public Market, while more of a food counter than full-blown restaurant, is permanently packed. Expect a wait – and a smile – with your smoothie.

Life Alive Organic Cafe in Boston is passionate about spreading joy– and they’re doing a good job thus far. With three locations spread throughout the city, their Salem set-up is a fan-favorite, and for good reason. Life Alive’s smoothies may run seven dollars a pop, but with raw cacao, coconut cream, cold brew, and vegan ice cream all in one sip, you can truly taste the love (that’s the Coco-Loco Alive, in case you were wondering).

Life Alive’s warm grain bowls, grilled wraps and cozy, bright interiors will transform any gray, East Coast day.

My Thai Vegan Cafe in Boston

Vegan Boston - My Thai Vegan Restaurant

PC: My Thai Vegan Cafe

  • Cuisine: Classic Thai
  • Price Range: $10 – $25
  • Location: Chinatown
  • Check this spot out if: you’re craving some fresh, authentic asian food and don’t feel like reading the ingredient list on every dish.

Located on the second floor of a classic Chinatown walkup, My Thai Vegan Cafe is an open, airy space filled with strategic greenery, an addicting aroma of dumplings and a lengthy, laminated menu. Stick with the popular Pad Thai or get a little adventurous with their Pumpkin Curry Medley (served in a whole pumpkin, thank you very much).

In other words, My Thai Vegan Cafe is one of the best vegan restaurants in Boston and a high quality people pleaser perfect for every occasion.

Dosa N Curry

Dosa N Curry Vegan Food in Boston

  • Cuisine: Indian and Indo-Chinese
  • Price Range: $8 – $15
  • Location: Somerville
  • Check this spot out if: you’re in need of casual Indian eats.

Dosa N Curry lives up to its name in every sense. Toting the tagline “you are what you eat”, this petite eatery on the outskirts of the city is serious about its mission to provide quality vegan cuisine without sacrificing the robust flavor of traditional Indian fare. Start with the Sunda– seasoned chickpeas sautéed with onion and coconut– and move onto the Dosas as your main. Each is almost a foot long, served with chutney and sambar, not to mention completely vegan.

Conclusion? Dosa N Curry is worth the ride and one of the best vegan restaurants in Boston!
Whether you’re craving sweet, savory or just something simple, Boston’s wide variety of vegan eats has you covered. Say goodbye to the afternoon blues with one of Jennifer Lee’s baked goods, shake off a hangover at Veggie Galaxy or swing by Dosa N Curry for a hearty and affordable dinner for two.
