Vegan Restaurants Vienna - Pizzi's & Cream Magic Mushroom Pizza

This all vegan pizza shop sells by the slice and by the pie. All the ingredients are top quality and mostly imported from Italy. The cheese, sauce and dough is made in-house, the latter of which takes two days to make!

This is by far the best vegan pizza I have ever had. I highly recommend the Capricciosa (cashew mozzarella, bacon, artichokes and Kalamata olives) and the Mag*c Mushroom (cashew mozzarella, mushrooms, truffle mayo and artichokes). I also recommend going with a friend or two so you have the chance to try more options.

Swing Kitchen Vegan Burgers - Vegan Restaurants Vienna

  • Address: Operngasse 24, 1040 Vienna, Austria

The Swing Kitchen is another one of the best vegan restaurants Vienna has become known for.

What started as a local couple making simple burgers and wraps has turned into a huge Austrian chain of the best plant-based meals. They have even expanded to Berlin!

Their mission is to make fast food classics sustainable, eco-friendly, and completely plant-based. In other words – they’re like the exact opposite of every major fast food corporation (and with tastier options!).

Their aptly named Kraut Pleaser is an absolute must! Homemade sauerkraut on top of a vegan schnitzel – what more could you want from your Vienna experience? I also really love their nuggets, and their sauces are divine!

Note: the above pic was taken in Berlin. I did not take the time to photograph my food before devouring it when I was in Vienna. I’m sure you understand.

From simple flavors like strawberry or maple pecan to the most amazing ice cream sandwich ever – “The Inbetwiener”, this shop is top for vegan ice cream enthusiasts!

My recommendations – the poppy seed, hazelnut, and the matcha flavors. And don’t be shy, get your scoops served in a cone. You won’t regret it.

There is so much to offer here that you’ll need to visit more than once and try it all. Not that you’ll mind one bit! But, be ready to wait. The lines are loooong.

11. Anker Brot

  • Cuisine: Bakery
  • Price: $
  • Address: Untergrundbahn Station, Stephansplatz 1709, 1010 Vienna, Austria
Anker Brot - Vegan Pastry Vienna

Anker Brot is a franchise that Austrians love. They might not be fully vegan, but they do a fantastic job at clearly marking their many vegan options.

If you’re in Vienna, you’re sure to find an Anker close by, so you’ll never have to go without a tasty treat. In fact, in the few days I was there, I came across at least four shops without even trying. There is even one in the main train station, so be sure to stock up (like I did) before boarding.

I highly recommend any of their sweet pastries, including the snail pastry. It’s like a cinnamon roll, but has a much more delicate flavor. Devine!

If you ever need to get your daily Austrian bread or just pop in to settle your sweet tooth with a riesenschnecke (a sweet bun), make sure to come to Anker.

12. Hollerei

  • Cuisine: Seasonal Upscale
  • Price: $$
  • Address: Hollergasse 9, 1150 Vienna, Austria

Hollerei is all about a fully plant-based menu with an elegant dining experience. The dishes may be simple, but they’re expertly made and offer an upscale night out with a rotating seasonal menu.

If you’re looking for classier vegan restaurants, Vienna’s Hollerei is always the right choice. But making a reservation is always a good idea, especially if you plan on going out for a nice dinner.

13. Yamm!

  • Cuisine: Austrian
  • Price: $$
  • Address: Universitätsring 10, 1010 Vienna, Austria

Yamm! has a ton of different options to suit any vegan’s tastebuds, but where it really stands out is with its outstanding brunch buffet.

The plant-based menu has Austrian classics and international favorites to make sure you have the best Sunday morning brunch of your life. And considering it’s located in the university district, you can bet you’ll find a lively ambiance to make your morning.

The buffet is a bit pricier at €32.80, but for an all-you-can-eat buffet AND dessert – it’s definitely worth it. Go ahead – treat yourself!

14. Bröselei

  • Cuisine: Bakery
  • Price: $$
  • Address: Strudlhofgasse 1 (at Währinger Straße), Vienna, Austria, 1090

Bröselei is a quaint vegan bakery that has a far bigger personality than you may think.  While the shop may just have a few colorful delicacies – the flavors are out of this world!

They have a rotating menu (as you can see – Austrians love rotating menus) and offer light lunches to go with their fantastic desserts. But what really stands out about this vegan, gluten-free bakery is their cooking classes.

This small bakery makes a point to teach others how to make the most out of plants and turn their recipes into art. So if you’re spending a long time in Vienna, make it a point to sign up for Bröselei’s renowned cooking classes!

The last spot on the list is a local favorite. Often voted as one of the best vegan restaurants Vienna has to offer, Sattva Vegan features a rotating menu made with local, seasonal ingredients.

If you have extra time on a Monday, their spinach curry is absolutely the right choice! And you get to finish it off with an amazing cardamom apple strudel.
