I recently went on an exotic fruits tour in Medellin, Colombia where I was introduced to sixteen different fruits found in Colombia. One of which was Algarrobo, a smelly but nutrient packed fruit that in powdered form is an excellent addition to smoothies. The powder is high in protein, fiber, calcium, lysine, and magnesium and is sweet and nutty with flavors of molasses.
This vegan smoothie is a powerhouse of nutrients with Chia Seeds, Banana, Soy, and Algarrobo and is the perfect breakfast to get you energized and ready to start the day.
- 1 Medium, Ripe Banana
- 1 1/4 Tablespoons Algarrobo Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Chia Seeds
- 3 Tablespoons Powdered Vanilla Soy Milk
- 5 Large Ice Cubes
- 1/4 – 1/3 Cups Water (depending on how thick you want your smoothie)
- Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
